Unfortunately, that doesn't always work for me. Today I was writing a
message and wanted to edit a part of it, but the arrows were just giving
me the windows ding sound. Even when I shift tabbed back and forth,
still nothing. I ended up having to copy the entire message into a
notepad file, write and finish editting, and then paste it back into the
message window. This happened twice for two different messages, even
after relaunch tbird and we.

I can corroborate this problem. When a message does not read (that is,
when using the arrow keys produces no speech), "Shift-Tab" and then
"Tab" will allow the message to be read.

Is it something to do with browse mode? I'm still having issues with
auto redraw so I keep it off, so I turn browse mode on and off manually.
