If you go to file explore profile folder, go to wineyes.ini, and set enableuia=1 to enableuia=0 and then turn back on the spell check does the speech loss still happen? Note you have to restart WE for this setting to take effect.

Hello everyone and Merry Orthodox Christmas for anyone celebrating tomorrow 7 January.

Here are the results of my loss of speech issues with WE 7.52, Outlook 2003, and Windows XP pro.

When running WE and Outlook is set to check spelling before sending, I can expect WE to stop talking two or three times per day. And when I call up another text to speech program, sometimes I notice that the WE process is not there in Task Manager under processes. Yet sometimes it is there and I can end the WinEyes process, and call up WE again.

If I don't have Outlook set to check spelling, then loss of speech is pretty much non existent. Sometimes there is a long delay, but this is more related to WAN traffic. We doesn't stop speaking, because if I'm patient my computer will eventually talk to me when whatever application finally loads.

This problem seems to be specific with Window-Eyes and Outlook 2003. I ran System Access with Outlook set to check spelling and System Access never hung up during the two days I had it going on this computer. Please don't think that System Access is better, because there are other situations where it will not load where Window-Eyes works just fine.

Finally I have a PC at home running Windows XP pro and WE 7.52. That PC is connected to my stereo and is more or less my JukeBox. The only applications on that computer that did not come with Windows are WinAmp and Avira antivirus. I never have any issues with loss of speech on that bare bones computer. So I am convinced that the culprit is Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 when set to check spelling before sending.
