And don't forget that some non-browser applications are made of silverlight 
nowadays.

While SilverLite is not essential for WE to run, it is essential for certain 
other things.
Granted, if you don't go to sites that use it, it won't matter.
But try playing something that insists on it, and see how far you get.
Personally, I've installed it.
