Yes, I would expect this as WE generally tries to speak on a tab unless focus changes, but it doesn't always know in windowless situations like browsers. We should probably attempt to improve this.

OK, I have updated all the set files and the issue of WE saying star double star for numeric characters has gone away. Now what does happen is when tabbing out of a password field WE will say the entire password. Not all the time, but often in the GMail authentication page.

It almost appears as if it is related to the speed of the connection.

I'm still not seeing your issue. I do see an issue with the on with words setting and numbers causing a double star.

I am not able to duplicate this. When I use on with words and numbers I get * after tabbing away from the password box, but nothing when I'm typing. If I use on with characters words and numbers I get * for every key I press.

There has been times when the Window-Eyes keyboard echo creates additional stars when entering passwords. This happens when entering a numeric character, for instance WE will say star twice when entering a password that is mixed.

This appears to be related to the keyboard echo setting. In the Voice setting under keyboard if I have it set to characters then WE will only say star once for each character in a password field regardless of whether it is alphabetic or numeric.

My preferred setting for the Voice is Words and Numbers. Now in many password fields WE will say star for each alphabetic character. WE will say star star for each numeric character. And if the digits are in the middle, sometimes WE will say the alphabetic characters out loud when they follow the digits.

For example if I have a password that is GW12Micro WE will often say star star star star star Micro.

This is usually on a web page that requires some type of authentication. Or on a system that is logging into a server some where out on the world wide web.
