And if you were to be able to place this "word" in the exceptions dictionary you would either hear "drive" every time, or "doctor" every time. I believe this particular issue is a function of the synthesizer as I can create situations where WE will pronounce D r (period) as either "drive" or "doctor" without use of the exceptions dictionary. What is inadequate in this situation is the English language: It's nearly impossible to program Window-Eyes to say the right thing in the right situation all of the time. I use other screen readers that also fail quite regularly in this regard.
