Marilyn,
The sounds must be 16-bit mono files of approximately 1.5 MB or less in
size. This is a Skype limitation. Did you also have the official Skype
client running? That would account for the additional sounds you were
hearing.

I put some of my own .wav files into the sounds folder in GWConnect. I
then selected them for events in GWConnect's options. When I tried to
play them using the play button in that dialog, there was no sound. I
thought someone said the file needs to be mono, which I have; but
obviously there's more to it than that. What kind of .wav file can be
used for GWConnect sounds? When I received a call with the sound that
wouldn't play selected, I got a sound that is like underwater sonar or
an alien craft or something; but the ringing phone sound that is the
default incoming call sound was not there. What is this sonar type sound
that played? When the default ringer is selected, I get that ringer and
the sonar at the same time. I am confused yet again, but it doesn't take
much to bend my brain.
Thanks for any help!
Marilyn
