I changed my ringer to 16 kbps, 16 bit, mono; and it's less than a meg in size. I chose it in GWConnect's sound options. When I hit the Play button, it sounded just fine. When I received a call, it played; but it sounded like it was playing at half speed and bubbly like it was under water. Why would it sound so awful when used for the intended purpose if the Play button plays it just fine?

In case anyone is wondering why using my own ringer or other sounds is important to me, it's because my husband's computer and KNFB Reader have GWConnect and Skype respectively as well as my own computer. We'd like to know which machine is receiving the call. Distinctive ringers seems the way to do it.

Thanks!
Marilyn
