this is a windows 7 problem.
if you lose all sounds and w e has not crashed try these commands in a batch
file.
running this does not always work. but its worth a try.
its better then haveing to reboot the computer every time.
i also set the desktop icon to run as administrator. then if the windows sound
is not the problem you will still hear the sound and escape before it runs.
also if the sounds come back you usually have to reload w e. it does not like
fiddleing with windows this way.
i put the shortcut on the desktop with short cut keys to run the batch file.

cls
net stop "Windows Audio"
net start "Windows Audio"

Subject: lost of sound

Aloha to all,
While running the speed test at link:
http://www.buytelco.net/speedtest.asp

I click on test while it had not finished and I lost my sound, which I
got back by plugging my usb speakers.
I was able to reproduce the lost sound again.
Can gw reproduce this odd event and identify the cause?
And is their a fix to prevent the lost of sound? ( I am joking-smile)

While not on this web page, I have lose my sound frequently, and I know
it is a known issue with all windows operating systems.
My specs:
Dell xps 420 desktop
Intel quad core q6600
8 gb memory
64 bit windows 7 home premium
window 7 up to date
soundblaster driver up to date
