Hi Kimsan,

I think everyone should take a try at scripting; there's no way to predict
who will be good at it and enjoy it, and who won't; but if you are good at
it, it surely does improve your options with use of the pc.

Unfortunately, other than the audio series I did, there's very little
written aimed at helping you learn scripting.

Each of the audio classes I did came with a written file of examples, with
enough comments that they may be helpful to you in learning to script even
without the audio portion. Also, Jamal put out an early script called
"learning to script" (I think), and he provided some written materials to
help you learn to script. There are also some articles on the GW wiki site
at http://gwmicro.com/wiki (I wrote two of them with the purpose of teaching
scripting through written articles). It was the effort it took to write
those two articles which convinced me that weekly audio sessions would be
easier.

Of course, now there's the app named WE Script Framework Wizard from GW, and
it's a very useful tool if you have read some of the material I've
mentioned, so you've brought yourself up to a place where you understand
some scripting, then this app can be used to teach you a lot more about
things which are intermediate/advanced level scripting concepts. After you
feel you understand everything this app has to teach you, you can then begin
to look at apps written by others; some of them are very useful in learning
to script as they contain a sufficient amount of comments to help you
understand what's happening. Or, some of them tackle very easy problems, so
you're not confused by a huge script which solves a difficult problem.

Hope you'll try all these, and of course get on the scripting mailing list
and ask questions; plenty of people there who are willing to help you.

hth,

Chip

As far as scripting goes. I would like to learn how to script in WE.

Any materials I can read/study or must I listen to audio tutorials.

I see all of these scripts on the central and I am like maybe I should take
a stab at this.

Thanks.
