Paulette,
You must either turn smart tags off in Word itself or go to
Verbosity/Office/Word/Miscellaneous in Window-Eyes and disable smart tag
announcements there. Note that it appears that in Office 2010, Microsoft
has removed the ability to disable smart tags.
