Hi Jed: I'm glad you asked that question, because I was looking into it last week in order to prepare to train one of my clients who was using Gmail. What I found out was that, although an Add To Contacts feature is available in Gmail, it cannot be acdcessed while in Basic HTML mode, so, unless you feel comfortable using the Standard Mode, not recommended for use with a Screen Reader, the only way I can think of to add a contact, is to reply to an email from that person. Every time you reply to an email address, it gets added to your Contacts list if it isn't there already. If anyone has any other ideas for adding contacts, I would like to know about them Kevin Huber.
