Can't this be done already? You can mute or unmute the speech with
ctrl-alt-f3 and you can turn on or off various speaking announcements.

Something to add onto that, when GW connect starts up for the first time, put
something in it to allow the user to shut it up if it is reading everything

it is. My friend doesn't use it because he feels that he has no control over
what is spoken regarding people signing in and out and how often.

Subject: Suggestions
Hi. I really like the new GW Connect, however, I have a suggestion. I will
read the documentation, but I would like to suggest that when you press
alt-f4 to close GW Connect that if you press the no button that GW Connect
should close. I kept pressing the no button after being asked if I wished to
continue because I thought the question meant did I wish to continue my session
using GW Connect. I pressed yes finally and GW Connect closed. I thought the
question was asking if I wanted to continue my GW Connect session, and of
course, I answered no.
My other suggestion would be to have the status message spoken only once, as in
Steve is writing a message. That's fine. Is there a way a status message can
be spoken only once? Or, is the status message spoken when someone stops and
starts writing? Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michael Massey
