Here are the commands I use for NIRcmd to remove the mute and to set the
volume to the middle.

I have these in a .CMD file in my StartUp group.

The Software folder is a place where I keep downloaded utilities I use
outside of the Program Files structure. The first line removes the check
box from the volume control. If it is not checked that is OK, nothing
changes.

The second line sets the volume to 50%. This is just in case someone has
lowered the volume control down to the bottom.

c:\software\nircmd\nircmd.exe mutesysvolume 0
c:\software\nircmd\nircmd.exe setsysvolume 52428
