Problem is? I can't get anything to play and when I go away from the
application, I lose focus on the application and I am not sure why.

Don't wanna be a wise guy at all, but if you browse around in the program I
think you can figure it out rather quickly.
Just hit your alt key and browse
the various menus with your up/down, and left/right arrow keys.
to be honest, I haven't used it for a while, but It was easy to figure out
as I recall.
