Terry,
While it might be a slightly roundabout approach, what I do is
right-click the sender's address and choose "copy to clipboard." From
there, I open the Thunderbird address book and create an entry. Note
that by default, Thunderbird is set to store the names and addresses of
people you email and, as such, that might explain why the "add sender"
button isn't doing anything.
