Hi Cory, I wrote an app named WSR which helps the built-in speech recognition from MS work properly with WE. What it does is to speak some of the dialogs used by WSR (Windows Speech Recognition).
There's an optional component for WSR which you can download from MS and install called WSR macros. In my WSR app are some examples of using WSR macros to cause WE to do things under voice command such as read the line or read the window. The WSR app however is very minimal, and as I didn't get much interest in it at the time, I've moved on to other things. Still, it should be enough to allow you to get started. You'll need to do some training with WSR, and some experimenting with microphone settings etc., but I was able to achieve a very high rate of recognition accuracy. Coupled with the WSR macros, it's an amazing piece of speech recognition software and all for free! I do strongly recommend a boom microphone, and a quiet environment.
