Richard, If the item was deleted from the inbox, these keystrokes should help you.
Control-y opens a dialog allowing you to choose one of your folders. Choose deleted items and press Enter. This puts you in the deleted items folder. Find the item in the list that you accidentally deleted, then press Control-Shift-V. This opens the move dialog. Select inbox and press Enter.
