the wekill app does not work when w e has crashed.
this batch file will in most cases.
all you need is to create a batch file with notepad and a desktop shortcut
to the file.
like WEkill.bat
then enter the path to the wineyes.exe file and add the command switch to
the end /k and save the file.
this path is for windows 7 or vista. it may be different for xp.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GW Micro\Window-Eyes\wineyes.exe" /k
for trouble shooting add the command pause to the bottom of the batch file.
if speech did not turn off then you can find out what happened
because it will stop until you press a key.

Subject: Window-Eyes Startup Hotkey

Greetings

In a future release of Window-Eyes I would like to have WE shut down and
startup when pressing the hotkey to launch WE. Currently when WE stops
speaking, pressing the startup hotkey, control+alt+W by default, the
message dialogue box that tells me Window-Eyes is already running
appears, although without speaking. Sounds are still working, because I
hear the tone that signals a dialogue box has popped up.

As things stand, I need to launch another text to speech application,
call up the Task Manager, go to the processes tab, find the WINEYES
process, end it, close the currently running text to speech application
to avoid any keyboard conflicts, then launch Window-Eyes again.

If WE was able to detect when it is running, it should also realize that
it is OK to shut itself down, and restart itself. This would save me a
great deal of time. I know it isn't easy to admit how often WE loses
speech, but trust me, it happens.
