Thanks again for your help. I actually ran the compatibility troubleshooter
after right-clicking on the Casper icon, and as a result, I have run Casper
successfully twice. Hopefully, it isfixed.

i am useing the same windows 7 64 bit system you are.
and casper 7
and the on board sound card.
maybe one of the w e apps is in conflict. have you tried turning them off
before running casper?
or loading w e after casper has started?
when casper is finished i think you have to use a speak window to read the
screen if you missed the pop up report.
also with me the app progress indicator is announce the percentage of the
copy and save operations while it is backing up.

I just now associated a set file with Casper, but I had not previously. The
core voice in the core functions is on. For better or worse, I have always
run my computer as administrator. Window-Eyes is running as administrator. I
only have one sound card. I have disabled the onboard sound. I have noticed
that there are three options in the Sound Card list under synthesizers:
Default Sound Card, Soundblaster Speakers, and SPDIF. I currently use the
default sound card. Again, to my knowledge, I haven't changed these
settings, and Window-Eyes has worked properly since I put in the
Soundblaster sound card. Also, I turned Esset Smart Securityoff, and this
still occurs. I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I still don't understand why
Narrator or NVDA won't work either. I don't know if the newest version of
Casper is a memory hog or if their is a conflict with other processes in the
CPU.

did you create and associate a set file for it?
if so check to see if the screen voice is off
its in the general/core functions menu.
also if useing vista or windows 7 casper will load as administrator. if you
are useing a stander user you have to reload w e as administrator before it
will work properly.

Yes, I have experimented with it. If I turn the machine off too early, the
back-up is incomplete. Then, I must reformat the back-up drive and try
again. I know the back-up is complete when I find the new files on my
back-up drive. However, the speech does not return until I restart the
machine. I believe one time I heard it read the back-up report, but when I
tried to move around with Window-Eyes, I got no speech. I haven't had any
problems like this until I installed the latest version of Casper. I have
reviewed back-up reports in the history and have not found errors. If Casper
has crashed, I don't think the back-up would complete. I think I tried
turning off Esset Smart Security, but I'll try it again. I don't think that
helped, but if it does I'll let you know. Thanks for your help. I may need
to talk with Casper aboutit, too.

have you left it alone to see if it is still backing up your drive?
if you stopped the backup it will revert to a full backup from scratch.
to many variables.
if casper has crashed the chances are you will not have speech.
casper will stop if it finds problems with the file structure. like cross
linked files. this can some times be fixed useing the disk utility in
windows to check for errors. go to my computer and open the file pull down
on the drive
properties then go to the tools control tab.
and check for errors.
if the file alacation table on either the c or backup drive is bad it will
stop
if the partition on the backup drive is currupted it will stop.
there has been times when i had to wipe the backup drive by deleteing the
partition with casper on the backup drive. then it would complete a full
backup from scratch. with no errors.
another problem i have had. is casper will not copy all the files.
i have found if you run the program as soon as the computer is booted it
will copy all of the files with no errors.
if you have a slower computer wineyes speech will be cut off for awhile
because the c p u can not process the data transfer and sound at the same
time. have you ever had speech studder while installing programs or when
copying or deleteing files? this is the same problem
it studders because the c p u is turning off the sound too process a block
of data transfers to and from the drive.

I am using Window2-Eyes 7.5.4.1 with Casper. A minute or less after the
back-up starts, Window-Eyes freezes. I canC"b,b"t start NVDA or Narrator.
Imust
restart the computer to get Window-Eyes back. What is odd is that the Chime
app ringts on the hour, so the sound card is working. Has anyone experienced
this?
