I wish it were that simple...I've restarted both my PC and window-eyes
about, what is it 6 or 7 times now? and the video driver still will not
attach.
any other suggestions are definitely appreciated here!

I would say that the video driver not being attached is likely to be
responsible for many or all of your issues and may cause you more. If
you are not able to take advantage of whatever WindowEyes depends on
getting from the video driver, you may be missing a lot.

I installed WE 8.0 beta 1 this afternoon. I did the upgrade path from
7.5.4.1 and it went very smoothly.
Afterwords however, I've had a few small issues i thought I'd ask about.
1.
When window-eyes first ran, I heard a few decending tones, which I
later found out by taking a look at the readme that for some reason the
video driver isn't attached. I looked in the about dialogue to confirm
this. I have the LTO copy of Wineyes, is it safe to re-install the
driver from the original cd? I don't want to do something I shouldn't.
I've never had this happen before, so this issue is kind of new to me.
Secondly, i notice that when alt tabbing between windows, wineyes does
not speak the title of the window i'm switching to. Has anyone else
noticed this? In other words, if i have windows live messenger and
thunderbird both open, if i alt tab, window-eyes should announce which
program currently has focus. but for me this doesn't happen. I'm not
sure why.
and thirdly, when using Miranda IM, i notice that conversation windows
open just fine, but if someone sends me a message, I can't read any of
the text. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the video driver
not being attached or if it's something else, but i did notice these
things happening, and wanted to see if anyone else noticed it toooo. and
if there's any way i can fix any of this on my own?
