Andre,
By default the mouse up and down line hotkeys will speak the new line
and move the mouse to the beginning of the new line as you have found
out. But you can press the Mouse up down speak hotkey
(alt-numpad-center) to rotor between different options. The options are
line, character and word. If you have character or word selected the
mouse horizontal position will not move but it will move to the next or
prior line and read the character or word. This is great for going up
and down columns.
Will this work for you?

Hi all,
I'm setting up windoweyes 7.5 to work with a database and it is set up
in columns and rows. I can access the information only with the mouse
pointer. At times, I need to go down columns to get information, but
everytime I press the number pad down arrow, it takes me to the next
line, but starts me at the far left. how can I go straight down. In
other others, keep the Y axis but change the X axis.
