i don't know if this is the window eyes beta or not. but with my quad core i
5 with windows 8 and 8gb of memory it runs very sluggish.
it does not so much with windows 7 on the same computer.
when i open computer with windows e window eyes will not speak until i alt
tab out and back into the list of drives.
if there are ribbons they do not speak at all. i have to use the context
menu to copy, cut and paste or delete files.
i have tried alt ,alt f and control f to open them. but still nothing. it
just says
menu opened or closed.
i don't have as many of these problems with windows 7 and window eyes 8 on
the same
computer.
info please. thanks

I don't know who's telling this person that 6 gigs of memory are required
to run a screen reader with windows 7 as this is total nonsense! I run
jaws, window eyes, system access and NVDA here with windows 7 on a 4 gig
machine and know for a fact it runs decent on even a 2 gig machine.

I'm running windows 8 here on same machine and it's actually less resource
consuming and faster than windows 7 is and that's saying something
considering that windows 7 runs very well on that machine. Don't be so
worried about change. If Windows 7 makes you happy then by all means stick
with it.

Let's just say Windows 7 and Windows 8 require the same amount of
memory. Let's also say that PC manufacturers usually shelve previous
operating systems shortly after the new one is released. This is how
technology works I am afraid. Either deal with it or stick with what you
have right now.

I am merely asking this for my daughter, as we can't seem to find new
computers with windows 7 on them. All she wants is a 7, which she is used
to, but the Windows 8 models only have 4 gigs of memory. I know we have
recommended for those with screenreaders that 6 gigs is good for our use of
Windows 7. Wouldn't 8 be more of a memory hog? And while we're at it, to
keep this on topic, I have just gotten used to 7 and am not joining the
Windows 8 bandwagon, but it looks like those of us who use 7 will now have a
harder time getting a new computer that is a 7. Do they and will they keep
selling Windows 7 computers, and where are they most likely found? 7 is good
for 7 more years and already it's obsolete as far as getting a computer, and
quite frankly I am just now working out the kinks and actually liking this
o.s.

Thanks.
