Good Morning,

I just recovered from a WE crash after trying to go to the Blindbargains.com site.
This is IE8 XP SP3 and WE beta 8.2
I had James' message open in OE 6. I pressed enter on the link he provided. I heard WE announce Internet Explorer and then I heard custom control. I tabbed around and realized that I was some ware up in the address bar area. I tabbed to the favorite button and the address bar. I then used f6 to hopefully jump into the page, but I was not able to use any other keys than the tab key. I could hear different links but I could find no other key strokes that resulted in any feed back from the page. X said exactly that X. I did not get moved to any text. C did nothing but say C. I used escape and nothing at all happened. I pressed ctrl shift A only to hear Brows mode not available. I alt tabbed away to the message open in OE and that brows mode was working to read the message. I alt tabbed back and WE started reading the title of the window. I could not move about the page unless I used the tab key. I re drew the screen and no change. I pressed F5 to refresh the page and WE started reading from the title bar and was acting as if I was going to hear the first 24 lines as I have browse mode set to do. However when I pressed ctrl to silence the read WE would not launch brows mode to read the page. I then remembered that James said that he had no scripts running. I still had all my scripts running. I opened the WE ctrl panel and alt f then A for apps. Arrowed to app manager and pressed Enter on off and POOF!
Game over.

The entire system locked. CTRL ALT Delete opened the shut down panel with the task manager but Alt T would not do anything Alt D would not bring up the shut down screen it was frozen.
I had to press the power button to shut off the tower.

On a reload I got a WE error and sent it in with much of what I have just said here.

That is step by step of what happened to me while looking at the site.

I have not tried to do it again as of yet.
Now that I have said all this.
Does this give any clue as to what might be happening?
Shannon

Where on Blind Bargains are you having problems? I've been tabbing through the site and using access keys. I go in and out of bm without incident. I'm not finding anything strange on this page at all, it seems straight forward. I haven't found a way to make it mess up yet. Let us know some steps to choke it and that'll give information about what needs to be fixed.

In the case I am pointing to with www.blindbargains.com being a
consistent example for me, it has nothing to do with auto off of
browse mode. I have all that auto changing of browse mode status all
disabled anyway. I have it set back to behave in the old way. I wrote
a detailed message of the behavior to [email protected]. I have
found other pages clicked on from google search results doing the same
thing. When they do they are unusable and it has nothing to do with
understanding the new auto on and off features as I stated. In these
cases I am pointing to, there is absolutely no using browse mode no
matter what you do. If it had to do with just understanding the new
features, a simple command of turning browse mode on with its
keystroke would solve the issue and get me past the problem. Pressing
escape would get me past the problem. In these cases nothing, and I
mean nothing of those or other methods such as screen refresh, page
refresh, alt tab, etc work. Turning off all apps does not work.

What seems to be generally erratic behavior makes it hard to use the new
browse mode, even with pages as simple as Google.
But on Google, browse mode wouldn't automatically load, because focus is
on an edit box when the page comes up. So it makes sense that, on
Google, browse mode would be off so that you could immediately start
typing. Is it possible that's what you're experiencing on other pages?
Is it possible that they're loading with focus on an edit box or some
other form control?
