Most people here I'm sure, aren't fans of News Music Packages. However if you are one, http://southernmedia-nmsa.com , is the main place to drop by for listening to your favorite TV news themes. Now, this site requires flash, and in the past WE was quite friendly with it. Although the buttons weren't labeled, you were able to press the first button, and it simply started playing music. As of WE 7 and later, with v8.0 B2 the latest I have installed, the only way to actually play music, with IE 8 and later at least, is to open any of the links titled: Listen to, in a new window, turn off browse mode, and tab til you hear "pane," and hit the space bar on the first time ya hear it. Which sadly, does not work all the time. Its all trial and error. Here's the X-Package news music package, from Frank Gari, from the NMSA archive, so you can see what I mean: http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer.php?media=theme,83
Now, if using Firefox, its a little more promosing. You have to download the GreaseMonkey Firefox Add on first, then install a script called Windowless flash. Try that same link to the news music package I gave in the link above with FF. There's a catch 22 with this idea however. Unlike wit NVDA and flash, even without this Windowless flash scrip, most of the time you can enter and exit flash objects no problem, as the flash object is contained in is own browser buffer. In Window-eyes's case, while the kill windowless script is running, if you enter the flash object by pressing down, You can press the first button to playthe music, but there isno way to exit out of it, withoutgh minimizing the window, then returning back to it. Now, as I write this message using WE 8 B2, I have to continualy check my typing, because WE isn't receiving all key presses properly. And now I'm using NVDA, because I'm tired of checking, thus taking this message over 10 minutes to write. Some of you know in IE 10, there is now a spell checker. Who wants to use it constantly to write an email message, just because a screen reader isn't dealing with key presses correctly. And if you're asking, the synth used doesn't matter. Hopefully these things aren't being over looked here before, or after the finaly release of 8.0 of WE. Ah, side note! Access keys in Firefox and Seamonkey aren't being heard by WE, even if that option is checked still. Also, ctrl-shift-R is still broken while in Seamonkey. Yes, I saw the bugs dealing on Mozilla's part. How come WE is the only screen reader getting these problems? Hmmm. If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
