Hi Melissa,
Couldn't understand how there could be a problem with having both versions of Eloquences on the system but surprised to hear there was no clash when both are loaded into memory. But this was mentioned quite some time ago and also quite a few versions of WE and K1000 have come and gone.

Neville.

Isn't there only a clash between the WE Eloquence and the Sapi 4
Eloquence when both are loaded at the same time? That is when K1000
is being used with Sapi 4 Eloquence and WE is using the WE Eloquence
with the silence set file. In other words, both Eloquences are in
memory at the same time.

Having both Sapi 4 Eloquence and WE Eloquence on the system at the
same time but only one loaded into memory shouldn't cause a problem
should it?

WE is running WE Eloquence

If you have not already figured this out, removing SAPI and Office 2010
is accomplished through add remove programs in XP and through control

any of your docs, spread sheets, etcetera by removing Office. Do the
Office removal first, then I recommend that you switch to WE supplied
DECTalk before uninstalling the SAPI Eloquence because, if I understand
correctly, you are using SAPI right now. Removing SAPI without having a
reliable default backup synth or without taking the precaution of
switching to a synth that does not seem to be affected by SAPI will
guarantee that you will lose speech and will require sighted
assistance--unless you've memorized the synth selection dialog. No? Me
either.

Good luck,

Lou

Hi Lou,

If this is the case how did they play there last month? And what do I do
to get the Eloquence back?

The Sappi which sounds very similar, will not allow me to choose the
source of the output of sound. I sometimes have something large that I
need to read and would rather multi task than sit at my desk.

I would in that situation change the audio sound card to use my usb head
set and set WE to reading the article or letter while I fill my
coffee cup.

I guess I could do with the Sappi but I want the Eloquence flexibility
back. So if Sappi has to go then so be it.

What do I do?

And totally on another WE topic.

Did you ever get Office 2010?

I don’t think my install was a good one. I have never been really happy
with it and it seems that maybe the install was not flawless. Can I just
uninstall the office suite and start over without losing all my stuff?

Shannon, I think I recall a GW Micro staffer telling another list member
that they cannot have SAPI Eloquence and Eloquence together on the same
machine.

        Good morning,

Some of you may remember a while back that there was the
discussion of SAPI VS Eloquence and pronunciation.

I had changed my synth to SAPI for a comparison.

I had left that change in place. SAPI Read and Eloquence Read
        sound the same to me.

However, I am now playing with the beta. I am finding that I am
        able to over type WE.

When I get typing very fast I notice that some letters are being
left out. I wonder if it is related to the synth choice. Maybe
        or maybe not the case.

I went into my synthesizer settings and there are no Eloquence
voices listed to choose from. I know I had them a month ago?

I can see Eloquence 5 entries in my add remove programs.

Where did they go? How can I get them back?

        Thanks

        Shannon
