I created a work-around although no visual web managers would think to do it. I have a post back on the expand and collapse buttons. In the Server-side code I set the Visible Property to true or false depending on which button is clicked and that makes everything good. That said, it causes an entire page postback which is not how things should work in any modern website. I have yet to try more work-arounds like wrapping it in an UpdatePanel but that is also Ajax so may just increase the problems - not sure but will eventually try it. I am too burned today to muck with more accessibility issues. Later and good hunting! Rick USA Sent: Monday, December 10, 2012 12:32 PM Subject: Collapsible Panel WE reading lines that arent there
HI: I created a Webpage with a collapsible panel that works visually and functionally. When open trailing elements below the vertically expanded panel start at about 35, 800. When Collapsed they start at 35, 142. The content inside the Panel started at 35, 142 or there bouts so the panel is closed and it's content not displayed on the page as would be expected. Windoweyes however continues to read the content inside the closed panel even though the lines are not on the page. This is a ASP.net Website using the Ajax Extension ToolKit - these tools are very commonly used by Web Managers to create functionallity,. That or the JQuery library which I have accessibility questions about so elected to go this route. My machine is the Windows XP machine running IE8. Is this a common problem with WindowEyes and the Internet HTML, CSS and JavaScript? Or, is there a fix to get WE to read properly in one of the Settings for WindowEyes? I tried refreshing the screen after the expand and collapse but that did no good. I want to build a high quality site but keep it as accessible as possible and this is the first problem I have encountered. Actually the first time I have stepped beyond simple html and started using the Social Media tools although I cant even start until I know if I can expand and collapse sections of the page to put things like News, User Comments and other interactive controls. If this is not the way to go then what tools are good to use with WindowEyes to get modern WebPage design? Rick USA If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
