Hello Matthew, I have a Dell E6520, so it may not be exactly the same, so please bear that in mind.
I suggest that the first thing you do is switch Key Describer on with <insert>1. You can then press each button in turn to see what it is. The next most useful thing to be aware of is that the FN button is key to getting some things done on a laptop. On the e6520 it is the next button in from the left control button on the bottom line. The following combinations work on my PC: Press the FN button followed by the keys below to do: F1 Sleep F3 Scroll Lock F5 Disable Touch Pad F8 Display goes to external display Home Sys Req (seems to do nothing) End Print Screen Insert Pause Up arrow Screen display brighter Down arrow Screen display dimmer I must admint that I could find no documentation on this. I had to establish this by getting a sighted colleague to go through each of the keys for me. I think you will want to turn the touch pad off, it does get in the way. I have also added 3 "bump ons" above the function keys, as they are not exactly above the usual keyboard keys. I have one over the F4, F7 and F10 keys. Remember that there is no context button on this laptop and that you need to use Shift F10 to get the context button. The hardest thing I find about using this laptop is how sensitive the keys are. I am frequently hitting keys which I have not intended to press; that is after decades of touch typing! I hope this is of help Regards, John. Just received my new Dell Latitude E6530, with Windows 7 Ultimate and have some questions: How do I set the system up for best performance, not graphics? How do I disable the touchpad; asked the question before, but the older PC ate the message. Also, where do I find the Insert, Delete, PG-UP and PG-DN keys? Finally, is there a system tray like there was in XP, and where/how do I find it? Thanks in advance for your help.--Matthew Chao If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
