Curious about what would happen if you make these changes to the screen
display as I share the computer with my sighted wife.

tab down to the first button and hit enter. You should come in on the
visual effects radio button group. Make sure it's set to Best
performance. Then tab down through the other options and turn off the
other visual effects that are on. Then Apply if it's there, I'm not
