Hi. A while back I posted a message stating that the start menu key was no longer speaking in Windows 8. Now it is, smile.
I received my Window-eyes 8.0.0 cd on the 22nd of December and tried to install Window-eyes. The computer would not recognize the optical drive. I tried various suggestions to make the computer recognize the drive and none of them worked. A Dell technical support representative insisted on sending a replacement. A technician came to my home on the 26th and determined that the original optical drive wasn't defective, but he replaced it anyway. The computer still wouldn't recognize the drive, so another tech recommended sending a new mother board. When the mother board was brought to my place, the tech merely reinstalled Windows 8 from the dvd and the drive worked. However, I tried a remote session with a Dell technical support rep to fix the computer where I didn't have to log on with a password. Whatever link I clicked and after restarting the machine caused the computer to be unable to boot into Windows. Yesterday, a fourth hard drive was replaced and it had to be connected to another port because the hard drive wouldn't boot up using port zero. The tech sent the replacement mother board back to Dell yesterday, go figure. After all this being said, and other personal tweaks having been made to Window-eyes 8.0.0, all is well now, smile. Sorry for the long post. Mike M P.S. When the tech told me I might need a new mother board and before he tried a different port on the mother board to see if the hard drive would boot up, I was like, and I quote, "are you serious?" I'm sure I thought about saying other things and didn't, smile. No, I won't repeat them here, smile. . If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
