I have both an XP Netbook and a new HP win 7 laptop and it does it on both
computers. It's a pain. I just used a text file and typed my password in
there. The caps shift key works perfectly everywhere else except in
password entry fields. I managed to get around it with copy and paste so
it's not the end of the world but it shouldn't be happening with 2 different
computers one running XP and the other running windows 7 HP. I haven't
changed any of the default settings set in by window-eyes 8 on either
machine.

edit boxes. And I'm sure everyone would be screaming if this were a common

Have you tried reloading Window-Eyes and rebooting since this started?
You might also try turning Apps off to see if it's some strange errant app
causing the problem.
From within the Window-Eyes control panel:
Alt-A apps, enter on App management, enter on App status, enter on Off.
Regarding factory settings?
First I'd try loading the All Users profile. This is the default profile
that is installed in the Window-Eyes program folder. Your initial default
profile is a copy of this.
1. Open the Window-Eyes control panel.
2. Go to Profiles and right arrow to expand it.
If you don't see Profiles, Alt-H Help, V Show advanced options.
3. Arrow down once to Set active profile.
4. Tab once to the Available profiles list view.
5. Select All users and hit Alt-C to activate it.
This profile will act like a fresh installation of Window-Eyes the first
time you load it. That is to say, you'll get the Quick start wizard to set
your initial preferences, it will check for updates, etc.
Once this profile is up and running see if it solves your problem. If it
does you can either activate your current profile and reinstall all set
files from Alt-F File, F Factory settings, or, you can create a new
profile based on the All users profile.
If you only have one profile other than the All users profile you can
delete it and a new one will be automatically created from the All users
profile.
I suggest backing up your current default profile in case you want to
restore dictionaries or any custom set files you've created.
1. Open the Window-Eyes control panel.
2. Alt-F File, E Explore profile folder.
This will open your default profile folder in Windows Explorer.
3. Backspace once and your default folder should be in focus.
4. Control-C to copy it.
5. close Windows Explorer and escape out of the Window-Eyes control panel.
6. Open Windows Explorer again and create a backup folder for Window-Eyes;
something like C:\We8Backup.
7. Open that folder and Control-V to paste.
give it a minute to copy all of the files.
You should then have a Default folder within the C:\We8Backup folder.
