Chip, and the rest!
I really do apologize for the inconveniences, that has arised in using the
Extended Dictionary.

First of all, let me confirm to you all, that those of you who have reported
trouble, should have been contacted off-list. I really don't see any reason for
cluttering the list, in discussing with single users, why the app might not
work on their particular computer. OK, so you don't see, all the activity going
on behind the scene. But, Chip, to claim that I have no interest in fixing the
issues, I don't understand where you get that from.

A while ago, a user contacted me, telling that he had trouble with certain
voices of his. I immediately worked out a solution, but due to the user having
trouble only with quite localized voices, I did not publish the updated
version. The main reason for this, was that I wanted to smoothen out a few
other issues reported to me. In December - less than two months ago - GW
released the new Vocalizer voices. These has caused further conflicts in
conjunction with the Extended Dictionary. This was totally unintended. Due to
the fact, that I am on a non-English version of WE, in which the WE8 has not
yet been released, and the fact that the new voices only works with WE8, I am
out of chance of doing the necessary testing myself. This is really nothing I
can do anything much about, since the licensing of the voices and WE versions,
solely sits with GW. I therefore, have been in contact with a couple of users,
who has helped me out.

Recently, I did post to the list, a message - informing you that a fix has been
found, that will take care of the issue with the new voices. I am currently
finalizing the newest version of the app, and will have it sent out for Beta
testing with the persons who are already on my list. These persons have already
been contacted. Hopefully, I will have the Beta out this weekend, and the
public release will be quite shortly thereafter - once I have confirmed the
fixes to be working as expected.

Again, I really don't know, wherein you find that I am taking no interest in
fixing the reported issues. This is a spare-time project of mine, and I don't
have 30 hours aday, for sitting and playing with software development.

BTW, I notice that you over and over again, have criticized the fact that the
app is released in encrypted format. You want to know the reason, I do ask you
please read the Copyright of the app. The anser sits there. Sorry, but this is
the facts. And to everyone else, I am awefully sorry, that the app currently is
not working optimal with all voices and systems.

Let me, take this opportunity, to thank you all, for the many different
feedbacks received. They have been useful, and I welcome any constructive
feedback. I did develop the app, due to my own needs. Then, I realized that
there was a call for such an app, from the general community. That is why, I
decided to publicize the app; that as many as possible, would benefit from its
powerfulness.

Finally, for those of you, who do wonder what causes the trouble in having the
Dictionary app co-working with certain voices. This is due to a techie detail,
in the naming of the voices. Something that I did not foresee when releasing
the first version of the Extended Dictionary. We are all but humans. :)

Regards,
David

  Jim,

You’ll need to post your message on the scripting mailing list, or write to
the app’s author directly. He hasn’t released any updates since the original
release of the app, so it looks to me like he has little interest in fixing its
problems. It’s encrypted so no one else can look at it to suggest changes or
take it over (which is too bad).

  Chip

Every time I load this app, it says “Sorry, something went wrong. The
Extended Dictionary App Cannot be loaded.” Why? How can this be remedied?
