I have used several braille displays with WindowEyes. I really enjoy
using the braille hot keys menu. I have added many hot keys and deleted
or changed others. The braille hot keys are in the WE control panel,
braille, settings, hot keys.
This feature works great with both 6-key and qwerty braille
displays/notetakers. The more keys and buttons you have on your
display, the more you can do.
My BrailleEdge 40 has 8 function buttons and 8 arrow keys, and 8 Perkins
keys. I changed the buttons for control, alt, shift, and insert to be
sticky control, sticky alt, sticky shift, sticky insert. It's easier for
me to press sticky shift a than to hold down the shift key and the a key.
If I didn't have the shift button, I would have had to create 26 hot
keys for the capital letters.
I also use a BrailleSense U2Q on another pc with WE. The shift keys on
the BSPQ don't work as hot keys, so I created 26 keys for the capital
letters using another key. Toggling the caps lock key on and off is a
nuisance.
So, make use of the braille hot keys! They're a great enhancement!
