Hi Tilor, While I don't know anything about the specific models you are looking into, I did just get a new laptop and one of my minor complaints was that it was missing a "applications" key. Of course laptops are almost always missing several keys we get used to having on standard keyboards, but someone passed on to me a tip for a wonderful free utility named "sharpkeys".
It will allow you to remap a key from the keyboard to act as something else (or more than one). The author of the utility even mentions how many laptops are now coming with all their function keys reassigned to running specific programs by default (and you have to remember after each boot to press a special function key toggle key to get them back to their default mappings, and so he suggests you can use SharpKeys to map the function keys as they come on the laptop back to their standard mappings, so you don't have to remember to toggle them back each session. I've found it to be very useful and very easy to use. Good luck, Chip ) -----Original Message----- From: Tyler Juranek [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, February 10, 2013 6:14 PM To: gwmicro Subject: Question about laptops Hi all, Just wondering if anyone on here has used the Lenovo Edge E420 Model 1141 laptop, and how well it works with window-eyes. Also curious as to what people think of the HP Compaq 6830s laptop. If anyone has any opinions on wich one would work better, I would verry much appreciate some input. Thanks!
