Doesn't do anything for me either. In my case, control K takes me into AOL
and alt down arrow does absolutely nothing.

HMM, well.
I open Firefox.
Hit Ctrl-K, and immediately Google Search loads.
I try to hit Alt-Down, but that gives me absolutely no reaction.
So, apparently, there might be a setting somewhare for getting to change
the search provider. As I said, Ctrl-K doesn't even leave me the chance of
doing anything, before the Google page loads.
Firefox should be up-to-date, since I updated it only a couple of hours
ago.
Any ideas, of what setting might need to be changed, or if I am missing
out somewhere in the steps outlined below?

All you need to do to change that is, hit ctrl - k
Alt - down arrow and find manage search engine.
It works for the latest version of firefox 19 and in fact, it work for a
while now.

At one time in firefox you could hit control K and Google would be the
default search engine. And if I remember correctly by hitting alt down
arrow you could rotor through different search engine in the list. I
don't
know how this Bing became my default search engine. I've checked in
programs and features to remove it, but it's not listed. It's not listed
in
firefox add on's either. Essentially I need to know how I can get
accessible Google to open when I hit control K instead of Bing.

Yes! Go to view, toolbars, navigation bar. Without this it just opens
whatever search engine Firefox is set to use, and not a separate search box.

Hi. What are the keystrokes used to set Firefox to check for updates
automatically using Window-eyes 8.1.0? I am trying to learn how to use
Firefox. For over two weeks now I have been unable to access a particular
web site using I e 9 or 10 so I tried Firefox and it allows me to access the
site in question. I E is my preferred browser. Thanks.
Mike M
P.S. Thanks to those who have explained how to set a preferred search
engine in Firefox. So far, I have been able to check for the various search
engines. .

Subject: Seika Trans Braille 40 and Window-Eyes 8.1: how to get them talking to
one another?
From: Katherine Moss <[email protected]>
Date: Sun, 3 Mar 2013 16:10:04 +0000
Hello there all,
I'm sorry to bug you, but I'm trying to get this to work, and I cannot seem to.
I have an older, but still working Seika Trans Braille 40 display, and I have
tinkered and tinkered with it to no avail with Window-Eyes. I have done the
following:
Plugged in the display at startup after installing Window-Eyes
Selected Seika from the list of available displays in the devices branch of the
settings tree
Set the port to the USB connection; (USB in the list of available connections)
Restarted Window-Eyes and then unplugged the display
Reconnected the display and restarted Window-Eyes with nothing seeming to
become active in braille
So far, nothing's working
Before I did any of these things, I installed the latest driver on the Seika
web site (version 6. Something). All I know is that it was the latest driver
available on the downloads page of the site; it didn't say anything about a
specific screen reader. It looked generic, and someone told me that it acted
differently than the usual driver for JAWS does, but I think that now they are
in one driver file. If someone knows anything about getting this model working
with Window-Eyes 8, I would be more than grateful!
