Jessie and Chip,

It sounds like your computer updated itself automatically and is
rebooting. You may want to go in to security and change the automatic
setting for updates to notify before installing. You can then click the
install to install updates and that should do the trick.

Jesse,

You don't say much about your system, is it a laptop?

The choices you saw "ease of access, etc.) are in the login dialog, so it
sound to me like your pc is either set to have a passworded screen saver,
or, it had performed an update over-night and had automatically rebooted
itself when it was done.

My new laptop from Dell was doing this a lot, and I think I tried a dozen
different things before I finally got it to quit. I'm sorry I can't
remember which option solved this, if it's a brand new pc you might try
calling the maker for support, or try googling this on the internet.

I think I had to find my network interface cards in the device manager, and
find options which allowed them to wake up the pc, and disable them.

If you don't want to mess with trying to disable this, then just plug
headphones into the speakers when you leave the pc for the evening, or turn
off the speakers, etc.

Hth,

Chip

Hi on this early Sunday. So I'm out finally resting and I hear a very
strange ding sound and, not knowing what it is, I check around but no
desktop. What emerges are things like switch users or ease of access
buttons if you tab. When I selected my profile, it dinged again but no
prompting that I know of was needed to set this off. Win7 64 byt and
Win-Eyes 8.1 so I'm not sure its a win-eyes thing persay but this being a
first, not sure what to make of it. Its as strange now as the ceremonies at
Fendway Park in Boston were moving and spot-on and this coming from a
Yankees fan. A strange way to start this early Sunday for sure.
Jesse
