Hi Kevin,
It's called the "Refresh Rotor", found under Hot Keys, Browse Mode;
press r to get to it in that list. Note that it will only work in
Itunes in places where you're in a web-page-like window, like in the
Store or such places. I'm not saying my solution will work, but my
theory is that turning off the suspend refresh function, that is, having
no suspension of page refreshes, will allow the Itunes pages to load
freely, and so prevent lock-up. Smile. This happens to me all the time
in Internet Explorer, as well as many programs with web-based
interfaces. It's something which is always in the back of my mind.

What is shift-control-m?
I'm not using the standard, awful, keyboard layout.
Thanks.

Hi Kevin,
Just a suggestion, but I recommend turning off Suspend Refresh in
Itunes before connecting your phone. Tab into the area of Itunes
where you can normally use browse mode keys; you know what I mean, I
think. Then, press shift-control-m several times until you hear
"Suspend Off". Then try connecting your phone.

When I connect a new iPhone to my win7 machine
running WE 8.2 and iTunes 11x it first asks me if I wish to set up
the phone as a new device or restore.
It then goes silent.
We is dead at that point. I have to Kill Wineyes and alt-f4 out of
iTunes and restart WE to get any speech.
That's fine unless I try to do the above again.
Same result.
This is rather frustrating.
