Hi Vince,

A tip for searching the manual quickly is to press control-tab to cycle between three tabs, namely, Contents, Index and Search tabs. Contents is the first one with the tree-view you are finding hard to use. Honestly, though, it is laid out very effectively.

This is interesting. I have been trying to use the manual to learn how to use the internet. I have not been able to find anything there. The old manual had a link and you went to it. From this I can see I have to learn how to use the new manual. I thought I had to expand the manual to get it like the way it was. You are right the old way was easy to use and find things. Thanks for the tip that will send me looking at how to use the manual.

*Subject:* Word document spasific settings manual needs correction

Good morning. I was trying to investigate the document specific settings, to see if I could set WE to speak differently on a particular document.

WE is too chatty when I need to use this document. I have to press CTRL a few times to stop WE so I can start interacting with it. This particular document is a mail merge document and I don't need to know about its headings or all that stuff that WE wants to tell me. I wanted to see if I could stop some of the verbosity for this document alone. Hence the investigation into the Document specific settings.

I went to the manual first for help.

A note about the manual. I can't stand it. I liked it better when there was a way to jump to related items from a topic with the links in the page or the next and previous links that used to be present. They have been gone for a while now. This means after you read the page you have to f6 back into the search box, tab back into the list of searched results and arrow through them and then enter on that item and f6 back into the help text. Very inefficient.

It was my third trip through the tree of knowledge to find how to set the word enhanced behavior to off as the manual states it can be disabled.

I will paste the text of the manual below.

The instructions say that the ability to turn this setting off is in Verbosity office word miscellaneous.

I went and looked and there is not a setting referring to enhanced settings in this area.

So If this is still an option where is it?

I don't eve! n know if it will do what I want but I can't even use the manuals instructions to try it.

If this is no longer an option the manual is miss leading. If this is still an option then the manual needs to be fixed to reflect the steps to accomplish the desired settings.

Manual text below.

Disabling Enhanced Word Support

If you encounter a document

that does not read correctly with Window-Eyes enhanced Word support, you have the

option to revert back to the older method of accessing the

document

. To turn this feature on or off, open the Verbosity/Office/Word/Miscellaneous area

of the Window-Eyes control panel. This is a per

document setting, and will not be stored in any set file. If you have a document

that you think is not reading correctly, you should first contact support to verify

that the

document is causing problems. If you find that the document

is at fault, you can turn the Window-Eyes enhanced Word support off for that specific

document ...
