My computer has always played a sound. I believe one can find these settings in 
Control Panel under Sound/ You should find yoursound scheme there which shows 
sounds for events in your system. There is a Media directory in my Windows 
folder. After changing the ownership to me as the administrator, I cannowchange 
the volume of the sounds.

I am running Windows 7 on a 64 bit macdhine. When Windows oopens it emits a 
sound announcing that fact but it makes no sound at all when closing. With 
Windows XP it sounded both opening and closing. Is there a way of getting 
Windows to emiting a sound signal when closing? It’s not a major problem but it 
would be nice to know when Windows 7 closes.
