Peter,
Even setting a line with a Heading 2 style still worked for me so sure,
fire off a specific example.

Hey Doug,
Good to hear from you!
I tried it again on a new document and it worked fine; so I looked at
the text where it did not work. That text has a header 2 style
applied. If you can't duplicate, I'll forward you the word doc.
The best, Peter Duran

Peter,
I just tried this and am not seeing a problem. I'm using Word 2010
(32-bit) and WE 8.2 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. The first press
clearly has the initial letter and the second press spells it again
clearly speaking the first letter and the third press clearly speaks
the first letter phonetically. So there must be more going on than
just saying this is always broke. I can not duplicate the problem.

Just noticed, as reported by somegody else, that the read word key
in WE 8.2 control plus numpad 6 fails to read the initial character.
