Does anybody have a scanner? No, I don't mean a printing scanner. I mean a Digital Trunking scanner. Here, I'll explain what a Digital Trunking Scanner is and what it does. As you probably know what a conventional scanner is. Well, a Digital Trunking Scanner, picks up not only conventional frequencies used by agencies such as Police, fire and so on. It also picks up trunked frequencies used by police and Fire and so on. And it also picks up digital conventional and trunked frequencies, that use 25 Pp. codes. Okay, you probably are wondering where I'm going with this. I'll explain. Radio Shack cells these scanners. As you know, they can program them for you. They use a software to program it. They may have stopped I don't know. Well anyway, they also cell what is called Scanner Programming cables. These cables hook up to your USB ports on your computer. And a disc you will need to put into your Cd drive on your computer. This is to download the software that comes with the cable you've purchased. Well, I did all of that. And I can't figure out how to operate this particular software. I would have to use the mouse. Also, when I downloaded and installed the software, I had sighted help with me. I think we may have done something wrong here. We downloaded and I would assume installed M player. Then, 2 nights later, I was getting pop ups. Such as Donkey adds. install Adobe Flash Player which I tried to do. And I was unsuccessful on that. I would start the computer, and I would get something saying Strong full online back up. I would close it. I talked with Aaron at GW micro Tech Support. We did remote assistance. He's confident that there may be a virus. I tried removing some programs. Such as Pro Optimize. Platypus which was where the Donkey adds apparently were coming from. M player. And the Strongful or whatever that is called. But, I'm still getting a pop up for their online backup. Other than considering the option of taking it to my nearest computer repair store and getting the possible virus removed. I'll have to do a full scan with Microsoft Security essentials. But my questions are, Am I doing the right thing of removing these programs that I mentioned removing which I have already done? And do I need to remove the Scanner Software? If I don't need to remove it, how can I use the Software? It is a 30 day trial. Thanks. Trent. If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
