As usual I find the discussion on new products, innovations and whether
or not accessibility is a right or not most interesting. Of course
everything should be designed to be as accessible as possible. The main
FaceBook page is accessible, although it is poorly designed, cluttered
and very busy. For those of us using text to speech it is useable, yet
at times awkward. I sympathize with people who have other types of print
disabilities who struggle in navigating the main site.

The mobile version is OK and addresses a good portion of the
requirements for many of us. As for whether or not FaceBook, Twitter,
Instagram, Google Plus, PinIt etc. are important is for each of us to
decide. Heck many of us are expected to use several applications at
work, school or where ever that are meaningless to a significant chunk
of the population. This can be said for a lot of other things as well.
Some people have no use for action adventure movies and feel that only
dramas or romances are what is deserving of one's time to watch.

As for accessibility; sadly if we need to have things made easier and
the developers of applications or web sites like FaceBook are not doing
that it is not GW Micro's responsibility to fix their issues. If GW
Micro capitalizes on making FaceBook or Skype easier they can do that
and they should charge since their staff need to eat as well and they
might have charities and families they deem important to keep going. No
one has told me I must pay to have access to FaceBook. If and how I
access their site is something I want to do, then it is up to me to
determine how. If I have a bone to pick with the FaceBook development
team I must be the one to carry the ball into their court. If GW Micro
monitors lists and sees where people are having problems with
accessibility, what the heck, let them turn it into a money making
venture. They are not the first company and other people have made a
good living selling solutions to resolve challenges. Do we need to
consume soft drinks? I am sure that there isn't a nutritionist or
dietician in the world who will stand up and say we need to buy soft
drinks weekly, yet there are people who do it and are happy to do so.
