Unless you go for dual boot, installation of Windows 8 from within Windows 7 is completely dooable without sighted assistance using either Custom or Upgrade installs.

1. After launching Windows 8 Setup, your system will show "Preparing to install Windows 8" for a few minutes. 2 Next you are given two options: A radio button to choose whether or not to go on-line for Updates along with an option to "Make the installation better".

I choose no for both and N for next.
3. . You now are at the infamous License screen. Check to accept, tab over and "A' on Accept button.
..

4. You now are given four options:
Keep Windows settings, Personal files and apps,
Keep Personal Files Only
Or nothing.

Choosing Nothing results in the familiar screen where you can choose the drive and, as in Windows 7, you are informed that existing files will be backed up to a folder called Windows.old. Once you no longer hear any HD activity, the usual Windows-U should load Accessibility and you should be able to ALT-N to load Narrator.

If installing over Windows 7, I often need to re-install Window-eyes in order for my WE cursor to work.

Hi:

I am contempplating upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8 and am curious
if we 8.2 8 usersare happy with the upgrade.
Yes. As previously mentioned on the list, Start button, and Control
Pannel icons no longer exist. The quickest way to access the above is
Windows-E for Computer, Windows-X, P for Control Pannel, or Windows-F to
go directly to Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs). Hope this
helps.

Not so much with minor bugs, I am sure they will be fixed, but more with
the ease of use, does we 8 work good enough to be useful, and finally is
windows 8 useable without doing the touch thing with fingers on the
window. (smile)

I like a challenge and in reading the tiles in windows 8 seem to have
some nice features.

/Sorry, one more thing, is there much to configure to get we 8 to work
with the software?

Thanks a heap.

Don
