Tom, You didn't give us the brand name, but a Google search indicates that it is a Zoom cable modem. It gets a good 4.4 rating on Amazon. I will say, however, that if the installation program is the same one that came with my Zoom DSL modem, you would be wise to have sighted assistance handy. The program was quite screen reader unfriendly. I managed to get through the installation with great difficulty. After installation though, the modem is still working well after 3 years, and its web-type user interface is easy to use.
I almost forgot to mention one other problem I ran into during installation. The installation program for the original modem that came from my service provider set all of the modem parameters automatically to match the service, but I had to enter some of these parameters manually when installing the replacement modem.
