It all will depend solely on the USB numpad itself. If it sticks to standard
codes - that is, it sends the correct codes to the computer - all you need is
to plug it in, and press the numlock key to turn it off. Then, use the numeric
USB keypad, just like you would use the build-in numpad of a standard computer,
to control the WE mouse.

Unfortunately, way too often, these USB numpads are not sticking with the
standards. That means, that you won't be able to use it as a mouse controller.
It has been discussed several times here on the list, and GW has informed us
that there is no workaround on the matter. So, should you end up with a USB
numpad that does not work for controlling the mouse in WE, your best go is to
return it and hope for a refund, or you hopefully will have some good friends
that would appreciate a USB numpad as a tiny gift. Smile.

Sorry, but that is the realities of life. There is no good way to tell
beforehand, if a given USB numpad will work or not. Even sometimes you pick up
two units at the same time, from the same manufacturer, and with identical
model numbers. Coming home, one works, the other is just useless. It all has to
do with the actual chipset the manufacturer has used in the individual unit.
And, all of it ends up in a rather techie explanation, so let me tune out...
Smile.

  Subject: usb numbpad

Hi, can I use a usb numbpad to control the mouse with we? I'm switching to a
kinesis advantage which doesn't have a numbpad. So I ordered a usb one but
can't figure out how I could use it as my mouse control.

  thoughts? dave
