These issues have been around for some time through a number of versions of the browsers and Window Eyes, I just have finally found the generally minor annoyances frustrating enough of late to bring them up on the list. Though I have forgotten at which point they started, they are still around with the latest updates to Firefox 23 and IE 10 and the most recent update to Window Eyes.
The first issue occurs with both browsers. When I open a new instance of one of the browsers the focus is always on somewhere other than the webpage itself, rather it is somewhere like the location box. In the case of IE, sometimes when I tab into the webpage browse mode is off and sometimes it is on. With Firefox, browse mode is almost never on. I find this to be a real annoyance. I don't want to have to tab to get to the webpage and I want browse mode on until I either tab to an edit box or other control where it should be off. Perhaps I've missed a setting somewhere, if so I would love to know how to change things so this stops happening, otherwise, I would really like to have the behavior removed and to have focus begin in the actual page displayed by the browser and with browse mode on. The second issue has so far been IE only and occurs randomly, sometimes starting out this way and sometimes happening after the PC has been on for a while. What happens is that Window Eyes seems to forget it is dealing with a browser. Browse mode and all other browsing functions like navigation keys stop working. Attempts to toggle browse mode manually only leads to a browse mode not available message and use of navigation keys only leads to Window Eyes echoing the letter of the key pressed. The solution is to shut down and restart Window eyes, sometimes two or three times, though once is enough about 90 percent of the time. I often keep several browser sessions open at once and thus this can get really frustrating, particularly when it happens several times in a row. Again, this behavior has been around for a while, but it seems to be happening more often of late. While typing up this message, I encountered another issue I've been meaning to mention in hopes of a future fix. This is using the latest Windows Live Mail with the latest WE and all apps up to date, also, this and all of the above are happening on a Windows 7 64-bit PC with plenty of DDR 3 RAM and plenty of processor power wita fairly recent Core I7. The WLM issue is that typing messages can be incredibly frustrating. Often, I am forced, as I am doing now, to type and edit the message in a Notepad document and then copy and paste to the email pane. If I try to just type messages directly, Window eyes often does not read or reads the wrong characters if I am trying to backspace, it often does not delete all of the characters I tell it to and generally is just a mess to type, navigate and edit. This has also been happening for some time and I would really like it to be fixed if possible. Thanks, Chris If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
