Ok. For the past few days, I have been sitting here deciding how to put this
email message without sounding winy in the process so, here we go. This might
be a little long in spots but, I do have a point.
First of all, I want to thank the hard working staff at GWMicro for providing
an alternative to the original Skype client that some people have an issue
with. You can either have this free with adds, or buy Window eyes if you can to
stop those adds, or buy a subscription for GWMicro's GWConnect.
I wish GWMicro all the success in the world for all products, and future
products that they release.
Now to the heart of this email that I am posting to the list.
It does concern GWConnect and the issue of calls dropping. Ok, folks are going
to say to me in a reply, just use the regular Skype client and be done with it.
Why? Why should I have to switch to an application that Window Eyes doesn't
work with? And yes, I can prove that it doesn't work with the latest version of
Skype. Why should I have to tab around in the Skype window just to get from
point A, to point B? Oh, and yes, the treeview in the original skype isn't read
by Window eyes. Yes, I have written to the email address of,
[email protected]
with no reply. Am I surprised? No! Tipical company.
Now, Let's bring in GWMicro and the fact that they are trying to be the best
that they can be. Even though I have seen some negative writings on this list.
I bring to you a bit of a small complaint. The product? GWConnect.
And when I say small, I mean just that. Small.
It seems that we have a problem when two people are using GWConnect in a call.
Either the calls drop, or the person on the other end says that the caller has
muted their sound and they have done no such thing, or, the volume drops way
down. Which means that the caller has to call the person back several times
before the application seems to behave. Pardon my language for a second but,
why the hell is this happening in GWConnect? I know this because when I was
broadcasting last evening, I noticed that myself and my co-host were very
annoyed. So, she had to call me on the original skype client while I used
GWConnect. When this happened, Skype did not do anything to the call. I have
sent Skype logs to Steve from GWMicro. So has my friend. There is something
wrong with this client staying connected. When this product first came out,
there were no malfunctions. Since several updates, there have been problems.
Now, I want to say that I love GWConnect in every way possible. But the calls
dropping on GWConnect really needs to be fixed, or, Microsoft needs to give
GWMicro an updated skype kit. Something needs to be done. If I knew how to
create a TeamTalk server, I would do that but, I don't know how even though I
have asked several people how to do this. So, i use GwConnect, and VAC so that
my co-host can be heard. My point that I am driving at is this.
Someone needs to push Microsoft hard and push them until they get an answer as
to why these examples are happeneing. When I used the original Skype after the
show, no problems. Their shouldn't be any with GWConnect but their seem to be.
I hope people read this email in it's full scope before bashing me. I honestly
think there is a communication problem between GwConnect and Microsoft.
