Hi Shannon,

The easiest way to find your profile folder is to:
1. Open the Window-Eyes control panel.
2. Alt-F File.
3. E Explore profile folder. This will open your profile folder in Windows Explorer.
4. Control-A select all.
5. Control-C Copy.
6. Alt-F4 Close explorer.
7. Escape out of the control panel.
8. Open Explorer, create a backup folder, and paste the contents into it.

Now, after doing a fresh install I'd first try copying only those set files you created into the new profile folder instead of everything in case something else is causing the problem.

You probably know the names of the set files you created, but you also have to copy the .we file associated with the program. It contains associations and related information. It is automatically generated when you create the set files and uses the executable name, e.g. Notepad.we, Thunderbird.we, etc. But sometimes the executable name is different than just the program name. For example, the .we file for Sound Forge 10 is Forge100.we because the actual program executable is Forge100.exe. You can get this name in the Window-Eyes control panel.

With the accounting program running:
1. Open the control panel.
2. Go to Association and expand it.
3. cursor down past current Association to Program Information.
4. Tab down to the Executable name read only edit box.
That will display the name used for the .we file. Find, copy, and paste that .we file into your new profile folder along with any related set files, key label dictionaries, character dictionaries, graphic dictionaries, and character dictionaries.

If you want to view the .we file it's just a text file so you can open it in Notepad.

If the fresh install solves your problems you can start copying any other set files and dictionaries you've created or modified from the backup folder into your new profile folder.

Also if you want to first create a backup of your new default profile folder you can do this under Profiles in the control panel after the fresh install and before modifying anything. But this is probably enough for now. <smile>

Hth,
Tom

Good morning all.

I have decided to try a fresh install of my copy of WE 8.2.

I do have some set files that are custom to the accounting program that
appear to work just fine.

I don’t want to lose them.

Where are they located on a win 7 64 machine?

Do I simply find them and copy them out of that WE directory where ever
it is and then once reinstalled put them back in that directory?

I have tried to disable the Semantic anti-virus program that was
suggested as the problem but it did no good. I still have all the same
unstable behaviors as before.

I thought a fresh install might be my best bet.

I however can’t lose the ability to work so I need to find the set files
that I created for the program that makes my bread and butter.

I appreciate the help.
