Hi Jed,

I don't know why you don't see any text, but it is not because of
"compatibility mode". This just means someone created that document with
Word 2003 or earlier, and Word isn't using features newer than those.

One possible reason you don't hear text would be if you received the
document via email or downloaded it; in those cases Windows flags the
document as possibly dangerous, and Word 2010 or later displays it in
"protected view". In this view I believe Window-Eyes won't read the text of
the document.

There are instructions on the GW knowledgebase for getting a document out of
protected view (you can go through the Word "file" menu or use windows
explorer and go to the file properties).

Hth,

Chip

Subject: help with word 2010

Hey guys,

I got a document from someone. It says, opening in compatability mode. I
don't see any text in the document.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jed
