I wonder if it's got something to do with video drivers. Like i said in my
message, this happens very randomly. Redrawing the screen doesn't help either.
But the punctuation thing happens on both machines I tried it on.

I just tried this on my Windows XP system using Window-Eyes 8.3 and can not
duplicate any of this. I went through the properties dialog just fine and
everything spoke exactly as I would expect. It sounds like you may have OSM
corruption. What if you press insert-backslash and try it again in the areas
you mentioned?
