I have to agree with Duyahn. I had spyware which my anti-virus package wasn't picking up, byt my pc was constantly crashing (some years back). I tried some other packages and they found the spyware and cleaned it out and the crashes stopped.
Absolutely, the easiest way to deal with this is to start with the free anti-malware packages which have the best reputations; the free Microsoft Security Essentials is certainly where I would start. There are plenty of articles on the internet which also recommend very specificly targeted utilities to try as well. Secondly, if you are using some other browser other than internet explorer 10, then I would switch browsers to see if another browser is much more stable.
